Dr. Kao served as a co-chair of the 2025 APARRI conference to be held at UC Berkeley from June 11-13 with the conference theme Past as Present: APA Religions, Spiritual Renewal, and Collective Care.
Along with other program committee members, Dr. Kao was responsible for setting the conference theme, inviting the keynote speaker (Renee Tajima-Pena), planning the plenaries, and vetting all proposals for paper and panel sessions.
She also served as the on-site facilitator for the inaugural APARRI Media Fellows cohort training in partnership with Sacred Writes.
